ERP to EPM integration failing with error when it used to complete with warnings

Summary:

In our production environment an ERP to EPM integration for Project Forecast has started failing with an error due to there being periods with no data. This started to occur on 19th August; prior to that date the integration completed with warnings.

In our non-production environment the same integration continues to complete with warnings.

There was no change to the overnight script, integration, or report being extracted from ERP to EPM. I have checked period mappings for the integration source and verified that production and non-production period mappings are the same. I have aligned configuration and substitution variables in our productive and test systems, but still - the integration in production fails where the integration in or test system completes with warnings. What else could cause an integration that had been completing with warnings to suddenly fail with errors?
