Is it a good idea to provide user access on default viewpoints for maintenance?

Summary:

Is it a good idea to provide user access on default viewpoints for maintenance rather than creating viewpoints in a maintenance view? We are trying to avoid viewpoints in Maintenance view as there are around 70 segments in an application. Does it pose any threat / technical / performance issue?
