How to give OCC custom roles the same behavior as OCC OOTB roles

Summary:

What are the steps my team needs to take to make the OCC custom roles the same behavior as OOTB roles. With our current implementation Custom Roles don't have first class integration and the same behavior as OOTB roles. Currently we need to run scripts with Postman every time we apply a custom role to a user. This is time consuming and inconsistent. There has to be a better way to give 1st class support for custom roles that don't fit the narrow predefined OOTB roles
