How to add more elements to dashboard than page will allow

I was curious if there's a way to add more items to a dashboard than what is visible on the page. I've so far been unable to find a way to add anything additional beyond what will fit on what I see on the screen. I would expect there to be a vertical scrollbar to allow for this, but I don't see it or an option to do so.

With that in mind, is there a way to minimize the amount of blank space and margins? If there isn't a way to expand the dashboard, I'd like to at least know how to fit everything in that I can.
