Difference between Request and Enroll buttons during self-enrollment in Oracle Learning

Summary:

We have observed that when learners try to self-enroll, sometimes the system shows Enroll and sometimes it shows Request, even though approval is configured for all. I would like to confirm if the below behaviour is expected Oracle design or if there are additional conditions we should consider.

Observed Behaviour:

When the system shows — ENROLL

• Learner is considered eligible at the offering level (access group is assigned to both course and offering)
• Offering is self-paced / active / future-dated, so the system allows direct enrollment

When the system shows — REQUEST

• Learner is not eligible at offering level (access group exists only at course level, not at offering level)
