Transfer asset lines without assignment

Summary:

Hi

We have an Asset Project where the asset is no longer active. There is one asset line not transferred from PPM. Could I use the value 'Asset without assignment' to get the line transferred to Asset and then in Assets handle the line?

I have tried but it is not working (generate asset lines and then transfer). The line keeps being linked back to the closed asset.
