how can we send FYI notification to AOR for expired leaves

Summary:

We configured workflow such that If employee applies the unpaid leave application it will go to line manager for approval. Once line manager approve the transaction an FYI send to Payroll representative (AOR). But if line manager not approved leave within stipulated time leave application is escalated to Line manager's line manager & line manager's line manager not approved leave in mentioned time frame leave is auto approved according to the leave setup. issue here there is no FYI received by payroll representative (AOR) for expired leaves. Can anyone suggest workaround for this.
