how to change employee's person number to one created for him earlier?

We had an ex-employee in the system, and then he was hired as a contractor and then as an employee but under a different person number - a duplicate check was not done. So, now we have one inactive record with the original number, another inactive record for contractor with the different number and active employee record with the same number. How can we change the last two records for the person to the original number in HCM? Please advise. Thank you!
