Action on BPM transaction expiry - what notification does it generate?

Summary:

We would like to use this new field in the Absence Type and set it to approve. The Absence is approved upon expiration but no notification is being sent to the initiator. Has anyone used this functionality and has seen the notification it generates? Thanks
