How to remove special characters/ foreign keys from EDM ?

We had a European symbol entered in the data due to the business user using a European keyboard this caused an error (Example "Â"). We are trying to find a way to enter all of the symbols from the European keyboard to not be permitted. We also checked the invalid option placer list within the property that caused this error and there wasn't an option for the European symbols just general symbols like "*&^$%" that can be allowed to error out any workarounds?
