How to consolidate multiple Item Catalogs into a single active catalog?

In Oracle Fusion Cloud, a customer currently operates with multiple Item Catalogs and wants to consolidate all items into a single catalog and stop using the others going forward.

We would like to confirm whether there is any standard functionality to merge Item Catalogs, or if the recommended approach is to migrate or reassign items from one catalog to another using tools such as Item Import (FBDI) or REST APIs, and then safely retire or deactivate the source catalog.

Additionally, we would appreciate guidance and best practices to:

  • Handle duplicate or overlapping items
  • Avoid impact to historical transactions, purchasing processes, and reporting
