Oracle Fusion Planning – Clarifying and Modeling “Space Constraints”

In Oracle Fusion Supply Planning / Production Scheduling, material and resource capacity constraints are handled natively.

When business users mention a “space constraint”, they may mean different things, such as:

  1. Shopfloor processing space (e.g. limited assembly bays restricting how many jobs can run in parallel)
  2. WIP / subassembly / finished goods staging space after operations are completed
  3. Raw material storage space

From an Oracle best-practice perspective:

  • Can space constraints be realistically modeled and enforced in Fusion Planning?
  • Is modeling shopfloor processing space as a finite shared resource an option? And what should be the UOM of this resource? must be an hour or can be m2?

Howdy, Stranger!
