Import Genealogy for Production Items that are not present in Inventory

Our clients are truck manufacturers and they want to import genealogy for all the trucks they've created in the past as they want to keep track of all the components that were used in creation of those trucks as the customer comes back to them for repair and they should know what was used in the truck. They are not using the maintenance module, can we import product genealogy for these as well? If the product genealogy FBDI is used for this, can you please provide a sample file or explanation of the fields that will help us in importing
