Delivery Recipient field was not updatable by using REST API

The Delivery Recipient field on the Shipment Header page could not be updated via the REST API, even though manual updates were successful. While the REST API request completed without errors and the record was created, the Delivery Recipient value did not appear on the UI page.

Note: The shipment is in the closed status. Our requirement is to update field , such as the Delivery Recipient, through the REST API after a shipment has been closed.
