CA SB 294 -Ability to indicate on emergency contact if they should be contacted if detained/arrested

edited Jan 7, 2026 5:57PM in Human Capital Management 2 comments

Summary:

My HR compliance team reached out to me as California recently passed CA SB 294 The Workplace Know Your Rights Act.

This regulation requires employers to collect emergency contact information and allow individuals to designate whether they want their emergency contacts notified if they are detained or arrested, with an implementation deadline of March 1, 2026. Does anyone know if Oracle will be providing a delivered solution or if I need to get creative and determine how we can accommodate this requirement (potentially through the contact DFF is what I am imagining)? If anyone has any information or if anyone else has already determined a solution for this requirement, your response would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
