Parent Position Automatically Changes After Position Update and Approval

Summary:

During the promotion cycle, our team updated the Hay Level for certain positions. While performing any changes for these positions, we observed that the Parent Position field was not editable, even though there is no customization or personalization applied to this field.

To test the behavior, we edited the same position again and only changed the Position Name (no change to parent position or hierarchy). However, after the transaction went through the approval workflow, the system automatically reassigned a different Parent Position.

Detailed Scenario

  • Original Parent Position: Manager
  • Action performed on employee's position:
    • Edit Position → Update
    • Changed only the Position Name
