Oracle CPQ + Magento “Login as Customer” — Internal vs External Users and Service Account Strategy
Context
We are using Oracle CPQ integrated with Magento and Okta for one of our business units.
In CPQ:
- We use Internal CPQ users for CRM access(Dynamics)
- We use External CPQ users for Magento access
- CPQ groups are assigned at user creation and drive:
- UI visibility
- Attributes
- Actions / buttons
- Licensing is based on user type:
- Internal CPQ license
- External CPQ license
Magento uses the “Login as Customer” feature, where an internal employee (CSR) acts on behalf of a customer.
Current Implementation
- Magento currently accesses CPQ using External CPQ service accounts
- These service accounts are:
- External users
- Assigned to External CPQ groups
