Can we change a field from LOV to TEXT format through VBS

Summary:We have a requirement to make Region of Birth and Location of Birth fields on Biographical info as TEXT format instead of List of Values. Can this be achieved with the help of VBS? Has anyone worked on a similar requirement. Also, is there an alternate way to achieve this from current Setup itself. Please help
