Position Update - Not Syncing with Assignment

Summary:

Hi Team

We have updated position for an employee, the position is updated however the position beside the Assignment field still it displays the old position name.
We ran "Synchronize Person Assignments from Position" , tried updating position using Assignment change and position change both the actions, still the same occurring. Kindly advise how this functionality works.
