Smart View handled unknown exception thrown by Microsoft Office

Summary:

After loading ADFDIs in ERP, we are unable to open Narrative Reporting from Excel without restarting the PC.

Every time users load journal entries to ERP using an ADFDI and later tries to access Narrative Reporting through Excel, they get the following error:
"Smart View handled an unknown exception thrown by Microsoft Office. File C:\git_svc\svc_src\SmartView\addinsrc\src\addin\EssClinets.cpp LINE: 13819"

When they try to access the doclets directly through Narrative Reporting, they get a different error: " Empty response from provider."

Is this a bug or a known error? The only way to clear the issue is to reboot the PC, which is not an ideal solution.
