how to default a value in the DFF field when dependent field is not null

Hi,

I would like to default a value in one of the DFF field based on the dependent field (In my Case, If supplier type is not null then i have to populate a default value in the R12 Supplier Number DFF field)

but it always getting defaulted when i open the redwood page. I want to default when i choose supplier type as some value
