Salary Amount Validation Based on Salary Basis?

we are currently managing Salary information across various transactions (e.g., Hire) and would like to understand if it is possible to restrict the Salary Amount based on the selected Salary Basis.

For example, if an Hourly Salary Basis is selected, is there a way to limit the amount or number of digits that can be entered in the Salary Amount field (e.g., maximum 999.99)?

Are there any recommended workarounds or best practices to achieve this, possibly using Visual Builder validation?
Alternatively, is it feasible to apply such a restriction based on Grade value instead?
