cannot check in or cancel check out

Report package word doclet stuck in state where cannot check in / cancel check out or mark complete

So previously fine report package where the word doclet which I have embedded a number of report doclets now will not let me cancel check out / check in or complete without erroring - is my only option really to contact Oracle Support for this or are there any other ways of clearing the error, short of deleting the doclet and starting over. Note I am the only one who has been working on this, so no other user has it 'locked'.
