Is it possible to export metadata from EPBCS and import into EDM? What are the risks?

Summary:

We have been using EDM to manage or EPBCS hierarches for years. Now we have some major hierarchy changes (about 300) and are wondering if we can just export metadata from EPBCS and import into EDM with any problems. What are the risks? Does anyone have any experiences doing this?
