Removal of a required/mandatory course

Summary:

We have a number of mandatory/required learning courses as part of our induction that have a 2 year renewal. We have just removed one from our required list. We have placed an end publish date on both the course and the offering (self paced). Will this stop the auto renewal process for this course or is there another step to complete to make sure learners no longer receive an alert to say this learning is due for renewal?
