High number of projects that can be created in Oracle fusion projects

We’re implementing Oracle Fusion Cloud Projects (PPM) to track costs at the facility work order level. Our facility management system generates ~40,000 work orders/year, and we’ll have a two-way integration between the systems.

We’re deciding between two approaches:

  1. One (or a few) annual Projects per department, with each work order created as a Task (work order ID = task).
  2. One Project per work order (i.e., ~40k new Projects/year).

We’re leaning toward one Project per work order for cleaner lifecycle management and integration, but we’re concerned about scale.
