Department Manager Defaulting & Auto-Update of Line Managers (Hire/Transfer/Termination)
Summary:
We want to implement a consistent reporting-line model where the Department Manager defaults as the Line Manager when hiring or transferring employees, and where existing employees’ line managers are updated when the Department Manager field is updated in the Department UI. We also need clarity on delivered Oracle behavior when a department manager is terminated—specifically what happens to direct reports and what “Manager” value employees will see after termination. We’re looking for best-practice configuration/approach and any known constraints/expected outcomes.
