VBCS Validation Rule error message only shows when Target Field is set

Summary:

Hi everyone,

I created a Validation Rule in VBCS to display an error message whenever the user selects Legal Entity = X and a specific value is entered in a DFF field.

However, the validation message is only displayed if I set a “Target field” in the rule. If I leave the Target field empty, the error message does not appear, even though the condition is met.

Has anyone experienced this behavior? Is there a recommended way to show a validation error without tying it to a specific target field (or is selecting a target field required for the message to display)?
