Issue with Automatic position code generation

We currently generate position codes manually and are considering switching to automatic generation upon final save. Our last assigned position code is 47,000,000. However, we cannot continue with 47,000,001 because there are about 350 existing position codes in the 51,000,000–99,999,999 range (mostly inactive).

We see 2 options:

1: Start automatic generation at 100,000,000 (next clean range).

• Q1: Is there a character/length limit for position codes? Could we run out of available values if we start this high? (We currently have ~7,000 positions codes)

2: Renumber the 350 positions in the 51,000,000–99,999,999 range.

• Q2: Could changing position codes impact anything (e.g., reporting, integrations)?
• Q3: Is there a way to update these in bulk instead of correcting them manually?
