Loss of Audit Trail When Correcting Assignment Existing Effective-Dated Row

Description:
We’ve encountered a limitation with audit visibility when correcting an existing effective-dated assignment row in Oracle Fusion HCM.

Scenario:

• An assignment change row is created to update an employee’s Business Unit (e.g., BU1 → BU2).
• At a later point, it’s identified that BU2 was incorrect.
• Instead of adding a new assignment change row, the existing effective-dated row is corrected to BU3.

Observed Behavior:

• Oracle updates the “After” value on the same row to reflect BU3.
• The original intermediate value (BU2) is no longer visible in the UI (no before/after history of the correction itself).
• As a result, downstream systems (e.g., DOMO - a BI Reporting Tool) that rely on current-state or effective-dated extracts cannot detect that BU2 was ever assigned.
