Process Item Structure changes to Work definitions

We have done Bulk update of replacing component with another component in Item Structure and Ran "Process Item structure changes to Work definitions. But in Work definition, New component is not assigned to operation.

Is this a intended functionality so that we have to manually assign new components to Work definitions with new Version.
