Do you have to be on the same version to do a migration from one environment to another?

Summary:

We are having an issue with doing  a Migration of data and settings from our Prod to Test environments.  Our Prod environment is on version 26.05.66 and our Test is on 26.05.92.  Would being on different versions cause an error when migrating data from Prod to Test? Is there some work around to do the migration even while on different versions?

Here is the error we are receiving:
