Update PO Distribution with Project Info Without Change Order
Summary:
As part of the conversion and migration activities in Oracle Fusion Cloud Project Portfolio Management, there is a business scenario where PPM is currently under implementation while SCM and Finance modules are already live in production. In order to create project commitments for approved Purchase Orders that are pending receipt against projects, project-related attributes need to be updated at the Purchase Order line distribution level.
The required project attributes include Project Number, Task Number, Expenditure Type, and Expenditure Organization. These details are required to enable commitment creation and project cost tracking in PPM.
However, since the Purchase Orders have already been approved and shared with vendors, the Procurement team does not intend to create Change Orders for the purpose of updating project information. Therefore, the proposed approach is to update the project attributes directly at the PO distribution level without initiating a Change Order process, ensuring continuity of vendor communication while enabling proper project accounting and commitment integration in Oracle Fusion PPM.
