Display approval unit information on forms?

Summary:
The 26.06 release has a new feature that allows approval unit actions to be performed via forms: Ability to Perform Approval Unit Actions from Forms
I managed to try this out after setting up some new action menus, but I don't know what the article means by this:
I couldn't find any way to display this type of information in the form. I was hoping to create a form where users could see all their approval units and it would display the status of each approval unit and then the user could use the new action menu items to perform actions on them. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding this feature, but if anyone has any insight, I would appreciate it. Thanks!
