HDL Load to Update DFF Value

When doing a mass HDL load to update DFF values across the board, we noticed that the upload caused prior Global Transfer actions to be touched. This resulted in recalculation of seniority dates. Can anyone provide insight on how we can do an upload that will ONLY touch the row on the record that we are updating? We have tried using an effective start date of the date equal to the day we uploaded as well as tried matching it to the equivalent of the latest effective start date on the record.
