Need to map source dimension leaf members to target dimension leaf members

I have a dimension in source application whose leaf members are considered to be mapped to the leaf members of a target dimension of different application. First, I need to check whether the leaf members from source dimension is present in the target dimension. If so i need to map. If not I need to look for its parent's .PV member. How to achieve this ? I am using planning modules for both applications.
