Calculations on Alternate hierarchies

We have a business rule that calculates stuff within FIX( @RELATIVE ({RTP_T1_All},0)).
At runtime, when the user chooses a parent from the main hierarchy, it calculates all the descendant members fine.
However, if the user chooses a parent from an alternate hierarchy, nothing calcs. The alternate hierarchy is all dynamic and shared members.
I wonder if there is some strategy to work around this issue, while still allowing the user to select from the alternate hierarchy?
I'd also be interested if any blog posts or documentation covers this issue.This is a Hybrid BSO cube and the version 26.07.
