We are designing a serial-controlled manufacturing process in Oracle Fusion Cloud Manufacturing and would like to validate the recommended approach and any known limitations.

Business scenario

We have a multilevel BOM and assemble from lower-level subassemblies up to the final product. The business would like to generate or define the serial number at the lower subassembly level and then use that same serial identity through the upper-level subassemblies and final assembly.

We also need to perform manufacturing operations and inline quality inspections during different work orders, and those activities must be associated with the relevant product serial number.
