Purpose of Discussion Boards and the feature of "Discuss" under Coaching & Wellness Teams

What options/apps are available for the Discussion Boards connectors and can Oracle Learning be leveraged there to connect questions/discussions to Learning communities? Also, for both Wellness Teams and Coaching there is a feature "Discuss" that appears. Is it the same connector that is used for the discussions? My Client does not use Slack and we are having a hard time building a seamless approach for them to use functionalities such as Discussion Boards, Coaching and Wellness Teams and provide a platform to discuss and contribute ideas and share content. Any ideas/use cases would be highly appreciated.
