Need to capture Additional Usage Charge Data on Rate Plan

Is there a way to add additional/custom fields to a rate plan in order to capture extra data related to usage-based charges? we would like to store more detailed information at the rate plan level (beyond the standard fields) so that it can be referenced on when usage charges are calculated.

Any guidance, documentation links, or examples would be greatly appreciated.
