How to Notify the Initiator When an Approval Workflow Fails?

Summary:

Hi Experts,

We would like to better understand how approval flow failures are handled in Oracle.

After the transaction is submitted, the approval workflow is triggered and should be routed to the designated approver. However, when the approval flow encounters an error and fails, no notification is sent to any user.

In this scenario:

  • The approver does not receive any approval request.
  • The initiator is not informed that the approval process has failed.

Is there any standard Oracle functionality or recommended approach to intercept workflow errors and notify the initiator when the approval process does not complete successfully?

Our goal is to ensure that users are aware of approval flow failures and can take appropriate action instead of remaining unaware that the transaction is stuck due to an error.
