How to resolve FBDI issue with Import Projects

Summary:

A recent SR was resolved by advising that we can update projects via FBDI when we can't view them due to a planned role expiring,

This has been working fine as a workaround however I have one project which is returning the error "You must specify a project manager for projects without a project template."
As I can't view the project in the UI how can I resolve this?
