DBCS - Operating System Updates

HI Team,

We have OCI Base Database Service (DBCS) instances running Oracle Database 19.28 on OEL 8

For Base Database Service, could you please clarify:

• What OS-level updates are we allowed/recommended to perform ourselves?
• Which OS components are managed by Oracle/OCI and should not be manually modified?
• What is the recommended patching procedure for the DBCS host OS?
• What backups or recovery precautions should be taken before applying OS updates?
• Are there any specific checks required for the Oracle Database, Grid Infrastructure, listeners, agents, or other DBCS components before and after an OS/kernel update?
