Upgrade OCI Base Database Service from 19.28 to Oracle AI Database 26ai

Hi All,

We are currently managing OCI Base Database Service environments running Oracle Database 19.28 with CDB/PDB architecture. As part of an AI initiative, we are planning to upgrade one of our environments to Oracle AI Database 26ai and showcase some of the new AI capabilities.

We have two environments:

  1. Environment 1: Base Database Service with Data Guard (Primary + Standby)
  2. Environment 2: Base Database Service without Data Guard

I have a few questions regarding the recommended upgrade approach:

  • What is the recommended procedure to upgrade an OCI Base Database Service database from 19.28 to 26ai?
  • Can the upgrade be performed directly through the OCI Console?
