RMAN Backups

Hi Team,

In our production database environment, we have scheduled RMAN backups configured through cron shell scripts. We have tested the restore process, and it is working fine. However, I would like to understand whether we can optimize our current backup schedule, particularly the archive log backups.

Our current backup schedule is as follows:

  • Daily L1 incremental backup: Starts at 1:00 AM and completes around 1:45 AM, except on Sundays.
  • Weekly L0 backup: Runs every Sunday, starting at 1:00 AM and completing around 4:00 AM.
  • Archive log backup: Scheduled to run every hour, but the schedule is configured to stop at 11:00 PM and resume at 4:00 AM, presumably to avoid overlapping with the L1 and L0 backup windows.
