Migration

Hi team,

we are currently running Oracle EBS R12, with both the application and database tiers hosted on physical servers (4 OCPUs each). We are planning to migrate the environment from physical servers to on-premises VMware virtual machines.

Our plan is to provision VMs with the same RHEL 7.9 version as the source environment and perform an EBS clone.

We have a few questions:

  1. Can we use Oracle Linux 7 instead of RHEL 7.9? Would the existing EBS cloning process work with this OS change?
  2. Since we are using an on-premises VMware environment, do we need Oracle KVM or any specific Oracle virtualization solution? Is a physical host with Oracle Linux KVM mandatory, or can we continue using our existing VMware infrastructure?
