Access to Apex workspaces through IAM domain users without needing matching user within Apex

Oracle Community,

Has anyone configured their Apex environment (version 26.1), in a way that they can avoid having to manage a corresponding user within the Apex workspaces/ATP schema, and ONLY need to manage IAM users for access to said workspace? We are trying to centralize as much of the Oracle stack as possible, all through IAM domains (users/groups).

Our desired end state is for developer access to be managed centrally through OCI IAM/SailPoint. We do not want to manually create and maintain a corresponding APEX developer account in each workspace for every externally authenticated user, if that can be avoided.
