"Hours Worked"

Hello

Does anyone have a union contract that specifically includes vacation, holiday, bereavement, or jury duty as "hours worked" when calculating overtime?

  • Hello Keisha. From County of Orange, California. For context, our Go Live for Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM will be January 1, 2028. None of our current MOU agreements include for Vacation, Holiday, Bereavement, Jury Duty etc. (non-productive time) as "Hours Worked" when determining overtime eligibility. All our MOUs calculate overtime on actual hours worked.

We found that you can include Absence hours in the Overtime Calculation but if the overtime falls during an absence (the absence is after 40 hours) then the time card calculates the overtime but does not include the hours type and therefore the time will not pass over to Payroll.

Oracle suggested calculating the overtime (in fast formula) then attach this to regular hours. This doesn't work for a week where an employee may have overtime but no hours worked.

An example would be a week where an employee takes a vacation (40 hours) and there is also a holiday (8 hours) such that 40 hours would be regular pay and the additional 8 hours would be overtime.

  • Hello Keisha! I am from Marion County Oregon. We are in implementation. I know we have union contracts with these requirements that we are configuring. My email is arweathers@co.marion.or.us if you would like to connect and talk more.
