Change bloksize on a production 1.5Tb database in less than 45 mn
Hi,
We have a production database on HP Unix with a 4 Kb block size. The database size is about 1.5 Tb with big tables. We need to switch to a 8 Kb block size (data and system) and we only have a 45 minutes time window to do it.
We were thinking that it would be a good idea, using a logical standby database with Data Guard. We will be playing a database redefinition on the standby and then make a switchover which should be almost immediate.
But it seems that Data Guard is overprotective and does not allow us to do that.
