CWB Participation Process runs but does not update CWB attributes

I've created two new custom attributes. The values are populated via fast formula->function. When I run the participation process for one user--clicking the button on the Employee Admin page under CWB--the attributes are updated/refreshed.

However, when I execute the concurrent participation process--the attributes are NOT updated/refreshed. In fact, my function isn't even being invoked.

I thought clicking the button and running the concurrent process are the same thing? Help?
